Renovations
We ended Christmas holidays by getting ready for some renovations. The preparations had kind of a domino effect. To make room for G and L to sleep upstairs (the temporary arrangement during renovations), we needed to clean out all of M's "baby" furniture. To get their room cleaned out, we needed to clean out other spaces.... and then we needed to demolish the laundry room. Ugh.
G and L have been sharing a room for the past three years. For the most part, this has worked really well. During the school year, they are really happy to have some extra time together. During the summer holidays though, it isn't such a great idea. When they are together 24/7, having to sleep in the same room can prove to be a little much. So, we've decided to do some renovations so that everyone has their own room. Earlier this fall, we bought a new front loading washer and dryer that we had stacked and installed in our utility room. That freed up a huge laundry room to be converted into another bedroom for L, right across the hall from G. At this point, a new wall has been constructed, giving room for a closet and more floor space. The walls have been painted. L was very excited to choose the color herself. Of course, she chose PINK... "Early Sunrise" to be precise. She had fun helping us paint for about 5 minutes :-) Then she grabbed the camera and started taking pictures instead. Today ceiling panels, doors, and closet doors were installed throughout the basement. Now, we'll need to wait for carpet to be installed. Then M's new furniture can be delivered, and everyone can get moved into their own bedrooms.
During the renovation, everyone has been sleeping upstairs. G and L have been sharing M's room, and M has been sleeping in our room. Needless to say, this has caused some disruption, and we've ended up with at least one child in our bed most nights. It's been kind of fun for the kids though.
