I've been away for a long time... partly a deliberate choice, to just enjoy life over the summer holidays, and partly just a matter of getting out of the habit of blogging. I've got a lot of catching up to do... memories that I don't want to lose, and photos to share with auntie Al.
G's birthday was in June. The big guy turned 6, and it's hard for be to believe just how grown up he's become! We celebrated his birthday with four friends at a nearby mini-golf & go-kart amusement park. It was a beautiful day, but a strong wind came up suddenly, followed by rain. Luckily we had just finished our golf game and were in the picnic shelter to eat supper. We picked up fried chicken and fries for supper (G's diet makes it a little more complicated), I had baked a GFCF cake that he loved (and that his friends very politely turned down). We had cake (and his friends ate ice cream treats) indoors while we waited for the rain to pass so we good hit the go-kart track. The kids were all just big enough to ride their own karts. G was so in his element on the track! It is amazing to see how aware he is of all the other drivers, to see him shoulder check, and to manuever the car so well. He did spin out once, because the track was wet, but he was so careful to not bump any of the drivers.
